說明

This study aimed to explore the vertical patterns of aboveground biomass and tree species diversity in the tropical forest of Pasoh Forest Reserve, Malaysia. To achieve this goal, we used a combination of field surveys and drone technology to gather data on species diversity, tree height (H), and tree diameter at breast height (D). As all trees in the 6 ha plot were tagged and identified, we used the data to classify the taxonomy and calculate species diversity indices. In this dataset, 8,148 individuals of tree species belonging to 72 families are included. Observed D in 2016 and 2018 and estimated D in 2017 are also provided. This study is published as an open access paper in the Environmental Research: Ecology at https://doi.org/10.1088/2752-664X/acf9a9. Data derived from the study including estimated tree heights is provided at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7866644.

取樣方法

The survey of tree growth and survival was conducted in the 6 ha plot from 27 January–5 February in 2016 and 31 January–7 February in 2018. For buttressed trees, note that D was corrected using a taper model, and then D was estimated in September 2017 using a growth model to adjust the size of D and H in Sept 2017 for subsequent modeling analysis. Further information on methods can be found in the paper (Takeuchi et al. 2023).

研究範圍 Our field survey was conducted in Pasoh Forest Reserve, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia (2°59'N, 102°18'E, altitude 75–150 m). We used a 6 ha plot within Pasoh Forest Reserve, which was established in 1994, and all living trees with a stem diameter at breast height (D)>=5 cm were tagged and identified at the species level, with a census every 2 years (Niiyama et al 2003).
品質控管 Scientific names were checked against the GBIF Backbone Taxonomy (GBIF Secretariat 2023).

方法步驟描述:

  1. Tree census data was formatted into event data. Range of dates were provided in eventDate for 2016 and 2018.
  2. Occurrences of each individuals between 2016 and 2018 associated with events were listed.
  3. Observed tree diameter at breast height (D) in 2016 and 2018 and estimated D in 2017 were listed in the measurement extension file.
