Descrição
As moths of the geometrid group usually live in forests and do not move long distances, they are considered to be valuable as environmental bio-indicators. Biodiversity data based on voucher specimens should have high quality and reliability. Here, we publish the records of the family Geometridae and the superfamily Pyraloidea (Pyralidae and Crambidae) with time of collection and location information, i.e. latitude and longitude on the basis of the collection of Dr. Hiroshi Inoue deposited at Institute for Agro-Environmental Sciences, NARO (NIAES). The collection of Geometridae covers 653 records from 615 species, collected from 1926 to 1979. The collection of Pyraloidea covers 447 records from 418 species, collected from 1949 to 1985.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Métodos de Amostragem
The collections of geometrid, pyralid, and crambid specimens were donated by the late Dr. Hiroshi Inoue.
Área de Estudo | The collection includes the specimens collected from Hokkido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyusyu and the Nansei islands of Japan. |

Controle de Qualidade | Specimens of Geometridae were identified before 1980 and those of Pyraloidea were identified before 1986 by Dr. Hiroshi Inoue. However, as over 30 years had passed since the original identification by Dr. Hiroshi Inoue, there had been many changes in taxonomic treatments. Therefore, Yoshimatsu et al. (2016) identified all specimens of Geometridae again, sometimes dissecting the male and female genitalia when compiling the list. With regard to the Pyraloidea, Yoshimatsu et al. (2015) identified all specimens again. |
Descrição dos passos do método:
- Scientific names were according to Nakajima, Sato, & Kaneko (2011), Yamanaka, Sasaki, & Yoshiyasu (2013), and Sasaki, Yamanaka, & Yoshiyasu (2013). On the basis of the label of each specimen location information was taken using GSI Maps by Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (http://www.gsi.go.jp/ accessed 10 May, 2019).
