JBIF works to disseminate biodiversity information to the world and to promote its use in Japan.
GBIFprovides a platform for sharing biodiversity data worldwide through the Internet and making it freely accessible to everyone. Accumulation of biodiversity information allows visualization of the distribution of organisms and their changes, and is widely used not only for academic research but also for decision-making in environmental policy.
Japan Initiative for Biodiversity Information* , JBIF, disseminates biodiversity information on Japan to the world through the GBIF, focusing on specimen information from museums nationwide and observation data collected domestically by government agencies and research institutes.
JBIF also works to promote the use of data and to collaborate with other fields.
